What we collect when you shop with us, why we need it, and what we never do with it.

This policy explains what Thrift Gallery collects when you shop with us, why we need it, and what we do with it. We sell pre-owned footwear and deliver on a cash-on-delivery basis, so the information we ask for is the information required to get a parcel to your door and take payment at it.

What we collect

When you place an order we ask for:

  • Your name — so the courier knows who to hand the parcel to.
  • A phone number — we call to confirm every order before dispatch, because cash on delivery only works if somebody is expecting us.
  • A delivery address — house, area, city and postcode.
  • An email address — optional, used only for order updates if you give it.
  • Order notes — anything you choose to tell the courier.

If you create an account we also store your password in an encrypted form that nobody at Thrift Gallery can read, including us.

What we do not collect

We do not take card or bank details, because we do not accept card payments. All orders are paid in cash to the courier on delivery. If anyone contacts you claiming to be Thrift Gallery and asks for card numbers, bank details, or an online payment before delivery, it is not us — please tell us.

Why we keep it

  • To pack, dispatch and deliver your order.
  • To call you and confirm an order before it leaves us.
  • To handle a return if something is not right.
  • To keep accurate sales records, as any shop must.

Who else sees it

Your name, phone number and address are shared with the courier delivering your parcel, because they cannot deliver it otherwise. That is the only routine sharing we do. We do not sell, rent or trade your details to anyone, and we do not pass your information to advertisers.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to, and we will tell you if that happens unless we are prevented from doing so.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we need them for our accounts and for any return or dispute. If you would like your account closed and your personal details removed, write to us and we will do it, keeping only the minimum an order record legally requires.

Your account

You can see and change your own details at any time from My Account. You can update your name, phone number, address and password yourself, without asking us.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies purely to make the shop work — remembering what is in your basket, and keeping you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Second-hand goods and honesty

Everything we sell is pre-owned. We photograph and grade each pair ourselves and describe wear as we find it. If a listing is wrong, that is our mistake to correct, and it is a valid reason for a return.

Getting in touch

If you want to know what we hold about you, want it corrected, or want it deleted, contact us through the details on our contact page and we will respond.
